students working in a science lab

The Department of Biology at Metropolitan State University of Denver has an excellent, dedicated faculty with high expectations for our students. Through well-constructed coursework, laboratories, advising, mentoring and community outreach, we strive to prepare our students for success in their careers and lifelong learning in the rapidly expanding fields of the life sciences.

The Department of Biology offers two majors; the Bachelor of Science in Biology and the Bachelor of Arts in Biology. The department offers supportive courses associated with paramedical studies, criminalistics, as well as general courses for enrichment for the non-science student's background. Students seeking secondary education certification in science should see the Department of Teacher Education. The Biology major requires a minor.
