Excellence in Dance, Fitness, Sport, Health and Performance

With today’s increased focus on fitness, health and movement for all ages – as well as the increasing prominence of sports entertainment – there are more career opportunities in these industries than ever. With a degree in dance, exercise science, athletic training or sport management from MSU Denver, you will gain the skills and expertise needed to grow along with the industries. 

Our faculty members and instructors offer a blend of scientific and technical expertise. You’ll enjoy hands-on experience, individual attention and classroom learning opportunities that provide you with the foundation for a fulfilling career in wellness programs, health-maintenance organizations, community health agencies, artistic dance, dance administration, teaching dance and dance production. Along with careers in sport-event operations, sport marketing/promotions, sport media relations and Athletic Training in the secondary schools, universities, professional sport organizations and more.  

A degree from MSU Denver’s Department of Human Performance and Sport can get you just about anywhere in your desired industry. The Exercise Science major is designed for students interested in becoming an exercise professional, which includes studies in kinesiology, sports medicine, exercise physiology, sport science, human performance or wellness. The Athletic Training program is composed of a diverse group of students pursuing a rigorous degree that prepares them to be health-care professionals in the sports-medicine community. Our Dance major is unique in its versatility and in its partnership with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. CPRD is recognized worldwide for its dynamic cross-cultural curriculum, community engagement, innovative choreography and promotion of American dance heritage. The Sport Management major is dynamic, applied and a career-focused education. The major also emphasizes the unique business skills and knowledge required for success in the sports industry. The COSMA-accredited curriculum develops graduates who are prepared to enter this competitive field.

Colleen Colles_Sport Management
She has over 25 years of experience teaching in higher education and has also been a collegiate volleyball coach, athletic administrator and sport event manager. She has been heavily involved with the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation and has served on its Board of Commissioners for multiple terms. Much of her current research and professional development is focused on the quality and accreditation of sport management programs.
