FINALLY... A PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR YOU!

The curriculum at MSU Denver prepares students for professional design practice by teaching graphic and verbal presentation skills as well as hands on technical skills to enhance their innate creativity. Collaborative projects with other disciplines and industry partners are a vital part of the curriculum and typically occur in the design studio classes. Students also do a professional internship as their senior experience to further enhance the real world learning the department strives for. Students are required to pass through a portfolio review process at the end of the sophomore year to allow registration for upper division studio courses thus maintaining the quality of the program's graduates. The details of this process are outlined on the department website and available in hard copy at the department office (AES 200A). Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science Degree. A minor in Industrial Design is also available.

“I’ve always loved to create things. So when I discovered industrial design, I knew I’d found the right fit. Today, I see adults and younger enthusiasts interact with my designs.”

Sharon Park

Designer for KidRobot | Graduated Spring 2013

The biggest take away from this program that is harder to access in the "real world" is the constant availability of someone to get a critique from or to think through a concept with.

Bailey Van Etten

Industrial Designer for Link Product Development | Graduated Fall 2016

I encourage all aspiring designers to be well versed in all subjects of the process - research, sketching, modeling, 3D, etc., but go a step further and make one of them your focus.

Roy Swanson

Co-Founder / Design Director of FormStudy | Graduated Fall 2006

"Everything you design needs to be usable in the real world, so being able to think about an STL or a sketch in a real world setting can solve problems before they arrive."

Adric Henkel

Senior Biomedical Designer for 3D Systems, Inc. | Graduated Fall 2009
