MSU Denver at DIME

‌‌The MSU Denver at DIME programs are designed to build strong musical and academic foundations that allow students to seize opportunities for long and sustained careers in the music industry. The program offers three liberal arts degrees in which music and general studies content is integrated throughout all coursework. Students are exposed to a broad curriculum that includes studies in history, the arts and humanities, and the sciences. Music is integrated into general studies courses, and the liberal arts are integrated into music courses throughout the degree program.

Students who would like to attend the program must complete an audition at DIME.  As part of this audition, applicants will be interviewed about their previous experience and training. Additionally, they will be asked to perform two songs either to a backing track or self-accompanied on an instrument, and perform scales and exercises as prescribed by the assessor.

Students must also apply online to MSU Denver.

‌‌Additional Resources and Opportunities at DIME

DIME has become a center for performers, songwriters, and music entrepreneurs, and with that comes many opportunities for MSU Denver at DIME students! Students receive several performance opportunities that include end-of-semester student showcases, as well as playing at events in the Denver and Detroit areas. Also, students can audition and perform alongside well-known musicians through our masterclass program.

Students can consult any instructor about various aspects of their developing musical careers through our one-to-one system, which includes a yearly career action planning tutorial. Each week, students have access to sessions that focus on subjects like networking, professional development, self- employment skills, and more.

Students can also audition original material for DIME’s annual student album, DIME Sessions, which is recorded and released through the school’s affiliate record label, Original 1265 Recordings.
